Maetche Construction began in 2014 with a simple belief: quality matters, and it starts with the people behind the build. What began as small projects on a family acreage in Sturgeon County has grown into a trusted garage, shed, cabin, and workshop builder serving Edmonton and all of Alberta.
A Family Legacy of Building
The story starts with Bruce Maetche, who built small sheds and equestrian structures for local farm stores across central Alberta. Every summer, he kept his three children busy, teaching them the fundamentals of carpentry while instilling a strong work ethic. These early experiences shaped Matt Maetche’s passion for building and set the foundation for what would become Maetche Construction. After completing his carpentry apprenticeship, Matt became a journeyman carpenter and officially launched Maetche Construction out of his parents’ acreage. The goal was simple: build better, build stronger, and build with pride.
From One Shed to a Full-Service Build Company
Maetche Construction’s first major project was a modest 12×20 shed. Matt invested all his spare cash into materials and built the structure alone in about a week. When the job was complete, he was thrilled with the result — and realized he could turn this into a lifelong career. That summer, orders began to come in one after another. So much so that he needed help, and soon he hired his first employee. Not long after, his father Bruce joined the team to help with construction. From those early days of loading wood into the back of a pickup truck and driving to job sites, the company has grown significantly. Today, we operate out of a shop in Spruce Grove, where we prefabricate buildings and deliver them either as flat-pack kits or fully assembled structures.
