Frequently asked questions
At Maetche Construction, we’re here to make your shed project simple and stress-free from start to finish. Our team provides expert guidance, transparent communication, and reliable support to help you choose the right design, understand the process, and move forward with confidence.
No, a site visit is not required to provide you with an estimate. We only need confirmation that there is a minimum of 24" perimeter space around the area where you want the shed. Ensure the location meets these requirements, and we'll handle the rest!
We ask that someone be onsite only on the morning of day one for proper placement of the shed, as well as finalizing window and door locations, and choosing siding colours. After that, we’re completely self-sufficient, so you don’t need to take time off work.
In most cases, if your shed is under 108 square feet in the Edmonton area, no building permit is required. However, it’s your responsibility to ensure compliance with local city or county bylaws. Always check with your municipality before proceeding to avoid any costly changes later.
• Edmonton: Residential Garage & Accessory Building Permits
• Spruce Grove: Building Permits
• St. Albert: Accessory Building Permits
• Sherwood Park/Strathcona County: Accessory Building Permits
For the best results, please provide either:
• A level base or sidewalk blocks for us to level the shed.
• If you prefer, you can also lay 4" of gravel or road crush down and tamp it. The base
size should be no larger than your shed. For example, if you want a 8x12 shed, the gravel base should be 8x12 as well.
During peak season (May–September), we are typically 30 days out for bookings. Please note that all bookings are made over the phone. Give us a call to reserve your spot!
Currently, we do not offer DIY shed building packages. All of our sheds are professionally built by our experienced team.
At this time, we do not offer assembly services for sheds purchased from retailers like Costco. We recommend using the manufacturer’s assembly service or considering one of our custom built sheds.
If you build a shed without a permit or in violation of city bylaws, you may be subject to fines and be required to make costly changes to the structure. Always ensure your shed is compliant before starting construction to avoid any issues down the road.
